OUTARDES is a digital media outlet for Quebecers who spend the winter in the South. News and practical tools for Quebecers who spend the winter in the sun.

How we work

1. Monitoring. Every night, a system reads public and official sources (news outlets, government agencies, weather services).
2. Writing with the help of AI. AI writes an original summary in Quebec French from the facts found across several sources. We never reproduce another outlet’s text, and we always cite our sources.
3. Automatic checking. A second automatic check compares every fact against the sources and confirms that the headline is backed up by the text.
4. Human review when needed. Sensitive or doubtful subjects are reviewed by the editorial team before publication. Health, justice, fraud, people or businesses named negatively, facts we couldn’t trace and alerts without an official source are always set aside for the editors.

Images: Images are credited official photos or AI-generated images, always labelled as such.

Corrections: a corrected error is flagged publicly, with its date, at the bottom of the article.

Advertising: every ad is clearly labelled (“Advertisement”, “Sponsored” or “Paid partnership”).

Each article states whether it was reviewed by the editorial team or only checked automatically.

Our articles are written in French. On the English site, the interface is in English and each article is flagged “Article in French”.
